Well what a day vis was on our side and well all I can say is have a look at the photos October & November are some of my favourite times of the year to dive on the Great Barrier Reef here in Cairns. The water temp is now sitting at just over 25 degrees C and well the wind drops down to like 5 knots !!!! Just so nice to be out there !
Some great footage of Minke whales spotted on The Great Barrier Reef June 05th 2010 What a great bit of news form Silversonic out of Port Douglas. Scuba diving this time of year brings all sought’s of surprises it is definitely one of my favourite times of the year to dive.
Where is it where is The Adventure Capital of Auzzie mmmmmmm let me see would it have something to do with The Great Barrier Reef well yes I think so . Another amazing dive I must say check this out a Flaming File Shell doing his thing it so amazing to see these little beasties doing there thing they are hypnotic in a way. It was in about 15 meters of water hiding in his little rock this dive was absolutely unreal.
My latest travel adventures took me to the far Northern Reefs of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. We made a 3 day trip to the famous cod hole and I must say it was totally amazing to see again to say the least. I filmed this little bugger hanging around the back of the boat ho is a Tawny Nurse Shark and so super friendly he was like a pet dog waiting for a snack. Check it out.
What an awesome day last Saturday 3 dives the water was 27 degree Celsius and vis was about 25 meters. This is what living in Cairns Australia is all about check out my latest little video I managed to get right up close to this beautiful Moray Eel she was just hanging there waiting for lunch I reckon.
Well what an awesome day I had yesterday my very first Helicopter lesson. I have been up in choppers before but this was the very first time I have had the chance to fly one.
Well here is my latest little film from a recent dive on Flynn Reef from Cairns on The Great Barrier Reef. This little girl was a little scared at first but she came round and decided i was not a threat and took off for a free swim over to the next bommie.
I found this great little tour booking engine for tour companies located in and around Cairns. You have to already know what tour you would like to do but it is a live booking engine and will give you pretty good deals from what i could find. Check it out !
Well what a year it has been I filmed this little beauty just out from Cairns. This little turtle was just cruising along without a worry in the world. I have now made 53 Dives out on The Great Barrier Reef from Cairns this year and this is one of my favorites for sure.
Today we visited the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre in Cairns Australia, the first time I have been so close to these amazing animals.
The Team at the center gave us the opportunity to take some photos and video and I thought we should share it here with you.
Turtles are hurt in the wild by ghost fishing nets, pollution, hunting from various groups and they also suffer generic disorders where air can get locked under there shells and they float on the surface and cant dive. The Turtle Rehabilitation Center in Cairns Australia helps these injured turtles back to health to then release them back into the wild.

Diving tours in Cairns, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef have you seen this? What a great bit of footage Tourism Queensland has put together. Its so nice to see what life is all about up here in Far North Queensland wrapped up in this little film.
Welcome to beautiful sunny Cairns, Queensland Australia. My name is Clint Carroll and I live in Cairns. Both myself and partner Caroline Auger have travelled backpacking many parts of the world including South East Asia, Canada, USA, Mexico, South America, England, UK, France, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Holland just to name a few. I have decided to set up this website to let people know what its like to live and work here in Cairns. Myself and Caroline Auger are both travel agents at Shop 5 Shields Street, Cairns CBD. We work in the travel industry and we book all the tour options available in and around Cairns and the East Coast of Aussie. We both Scuba Dive extensively and will give you up to date info on our latest dives.
Diving in Cairns is very easy when you get here you will see there are about 50 different companies to choose from. We have been diving here since November 2008 and wow there is allot to see out there. Open water divers have the choice of I think 5 very good companies. Our top 5 favorites would be:
We had one of the best dives of our lives on Silversonic last Saturday the 18th April. Visibility was about 15metres and we dived Barracuda Bommie which had huge schools of Barracuda, small white tip reef sharks, an amazing lion fish, a Wobegon shark and a huge Moray Eel. The boat was very clean and tidy I’d say about 35 people on board. Dive gear was in great condition, we used the larger 12l tanks and actually had one of my longest dives ever at 58 minutes.
We finished the last dive of the day with a fantastic drift dive for about 800 metres spotting 3 green sea turtles and another 3 white tip sharks…….. fantastic.
I thank all the crew on that day and the Outer Reef was at her best showing us allot of what she had to offer.
Until our next scuba dive stay tuned we may go out again this Saturday 25th. ………. happy diving wherever you are.
SIlverswift & Silversonic dive tour review. We have had the pleasure to go out with 2 fantastic dive tour companies recently here in Cairns Silverswift and Silversonic. From the moment you jump on board everything is catered for, for e.g Morning tea, Gorgeous Buffet Lunch, Afternoon tea and well the diving is amazing. Admitedly we had fantastic weather but the quality of reef sites that these 2 companies have permits for are the very best in Cairns I think. I give them 5 Stars (Hearts) for service, quality of gear & equipment, quality of food and most of all there dive locations.
