Did you know its only a 2.5 hour flight from Sydney to Cairns? That’s right just take the Airport link from downtown say Circular Key to the Domestic terminal about 15minutes jump on a plane Jetstar, Qantas Empire Airways or Virgin and within 2.5 hours your landing in the Tropical Rainforest of Cairns.
A cab takes about 15min from the domestic terminal to downtown Cairns where you may want to stay at the Mantra Esplanade Hotel a fantastic location right in the heart of Cairns right on the water front on the Esplanade.

My latest travel adventures took me to the far Northern Reefs of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. We made a 3 day trip to the famous cod hole and I must say it was totally amazing to see again to say the least. I filmed this little bugger hanging around the back of the boat ho is a Tawny Nurse Shark and so super friendly he was like a pet dog waiting for a snack. Check it out.
Well Mr Splashy Pants has been in the news allot lately and for good reason too he has helped the Japanese Government to decide to stop whaling for humpbacks this year ……. have a good little wee look here: Click Here he needs more support.
Well what a year it has been I filmed this little beauty just out from Cairns. This little turtle was just cruising along without a worry in the world. I have now made 53 Dives out on The Great Barrier Reef from Cairns this year and this is one of my favorites for sure.
Well what a week I had last week, 4 days out diving with live aboard dive company Spirit of Freedom and well what can I say. These guys have it going on big time, everything from the food to the service to the dive gear and most of all the dive sites they frequent were unreal!!!! I made 11 dives in 3 days including a night dive and all we did was eat and dive eat and dive oh and at the end of the day sleep.
The vessell is stunning it was just out of refit actually and the dive gear was great nice big 12l tanks and well I managed my longest dive ever of 60mins at the famous cod hole….. wow
5 Stars plus I give these guys and will be saving up for the 7 day trip they offer out to Osprey Reef.
Well it has definitely been a quite start to the tourism year up here in Cairns, Australia. Were is everybody? Well there are people around its just not super busy in the city. The last 8 days have been pretty windy and rainy but it has just come good today.
We had an amazing dive on Monday far out it was about 20knots so a little windy but we still had 10 metres vis on the Agincourt Reef system and yes I saw the largest turtle I have ever seen !!!!! 2x Lion Fish another Moray Eel. Apart from the wind and the rain I was still blown away by the dive fantastic I must say. Find out more Click Here

Welcome to beautiful sunny Cairns, Queensland Australia. My name is Clint Carroll and I live in Cairns. Both myself and partner Caroline Auger have travelled backpacking many parts of the world including South East Asia, Canada, USA, Mexico, South America, England, UK, France, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Holland just to name a few. I have decided to set up this website to let people know what its like to live and work here in Cairns. Myself and Caroline Auger are both travel agents at Shop 5 Shields Street, Cairns CBD. We work in the travel industry and we book all the tour options available in and around Cairns and the East Coast of Aussie. We both Scuba Dive extensively and will give you up to date info on our latest dives.
Diving in Cairns is very easy when you get here you will see there are about 50 different companies to choose from. We have been diving here since November 2008 and wow there is allot to see out there. Open water divers have the choice of I think 5 very good companies. Our top 5 favorites would be:
We had one of the best dives of our lives on Silversonic last Saturday the 18th April. Visibility was about 15metres and we dived Barracuda Bommie which had huge schools of Barracuda, small white tip reef sharks, an amazing lion fish, a Wobegon shark and a huge Moray Eel. The boat was very clean and tidy I’d say about 35 people on board. Dive gear was in great condition, we used the larger 12l tanks and actually had one of my longest dives ever at 58 minutes.
We finished the last dive of the day with a fantastic drift dive for about 800 metres spotting 3 green sea turtles and another 3 white tip sharks…….. fantastic.
I thank all the crew on that day and the Outer Reef was at her best showing us allot of what she had to offer.
Until our next scuba dive stay tuned we may go out again this Saturday 25th. ………. happy diving wherever you are.
